Philosophy of the Lutheran High Athletic Program:

Athletics are an integral part of a well-rounded high school curriculum. Athletic competition provides another teaching tool for the student's overall growth. Winning is important and a priority, but not the only priority. Priorities also include self-discipline, character building, Christian sportsmanship and attitude, team work, and development of talents. Sports are still only games - your salvation is not dependent on the score.

Lady Crusaders - Behind The Scenes

Katie McCulley has built a volleyball powerhouse at Springfield Lutheran. The Crusaders have finished third in the Class 1A state tournament each of the last two years and somehow, every year, that small school on West Washington reloads with another team capable of making a run at a state title. We wanted to find out what it's like to sit next to Coach McCulley on the bench, and what better opportunity than against Mt. Pulaski, who the Crusaders fell to in the state semifinals a year ago.
